This section will allow you to identify what the benefits of pursing HEA Individual Professional Recognition might be for you.
Here are four good reasons!
It provides:
- National recognition of your commitment to professionalism in teaching and learning in HE
- Demonstrates that your practice is aligned with the UK PSF (2011) or national standards for teaching and learning in HE
- Provides an indicator of professional identity for you as a HE practitioner, including the entitlement to use the appropriate post-nominal letters – AFHEA, FHEA, SFHEA,PFHEA
- A portable asset, that has UK-wide relevance and is increasingly recognised by HE and FE institutions and internationally

Reflect on other possible reasons why HEA recognition is important to you and make a note of them in your journal. You can access the journal by clicking on the icon to your left. Remember that this journal is visible only to you so be as honest as you like.
