The UKPSF is the UK Professional Standard Framework for Teaching and Supporting Learning in Higher Education. An overview of the key elements is provided below but you can access the framework and additional guidance from the Higher Education Academy by clicking here.
The current, revised version of the framework was launched in November 2011 and consists of 4 Descriptors. These Descriptors outline the key characteristics of individuals performing in 4 broad categories of teaching and supporting learning activity. Integrated with and underpinning each Descriptor are the 3 Dimensions of Practice.

Although for clarity the Areas of Activity, Core Knowledge and Professional Values are depicted as separate but connected, it is important to emphasise that in actual teaching and supporting learning practice these three Dimensions are highly integrated. This is a crucial issue when considering how to present your teaching and supporting learning activity and impact when evidencing your chosen Descriptor.
